What a difference in a day…

Filed under: Uncategorized — Debs @ 7:29 pm

This morning started off well enough…it changed abruptly around 10:00.  My Father called and asked me to meet him at the hospital, Mom was sick and going in.  Mom has been pretty sick since November, they haven’t really been able to find the cause.  The last couple of days have been bad.

The last couple of months, the Lord has really been impressing on me to become re-certified in my nursing, and finish my nursing degree program.  A friend told me, to “follow my heart” and it stuck.  I’ve become re-certified as an assistant and will finish my RN program that I started several years ago.  I tell you this because I love how He works.

In the hospital today as she was going through the usual tests, we talked about everything that we never really have time to talk about because of life.  Then about an hour ago, the doctors came in, and said that more than half of her liver, her spine and gal bladder were full of cancer.  She held my hand tight, and after hearing all they had to say, turned to us and said “We knew this day would come, I won’t cry if you don’t.”  All I promised was that I would not cry in front of her, so far I’ve kept to my word.

Because the Lord prompted me a few weeks ago to get my certification, I will begin a different job, one offer I have had for home health, and my Mom.  He had me completely prepared and I praise Him for this opportunity.  It will be a honor to me to be able to assist in the care of this beautiful woman of God until He calls her home.

Everything that was a worry this morning, is no longer a worry.  Everything else has paled in comparison to what the next few weeks, months will hold.

I know there are some mighty prayer warriors out there, so I’m calling on you.  Pray for my Father, they just celebrated 46 years of marriage.  My Mom will be in the hospital over the next 3 days, having biopsies done on the hot spots they found today.  In addition to prayer for her pain level, my mom can be a bit feisty.  So please pray for the doctors and nurses as well.  One more, if I may.  Our son is getting married this Saturday, the 30th.  Her deepest desire is to be able to attend….

Thank you, and I love you guys.

  12. Hi Papa….in addition to the cancer, they have found a large blood clot in the main artery leading to her heart. We are in the process of setting up hospice to bring her home. I told everyone she was feisty….

    Conversation:

Doctor: “Do you have a particular religious belief that is important to you?”

Twenty minutes later, after a mini sermon, the doctor got to ask his next question…..

Nurse: I will think good thoughts toward you…

Mom: Praying and knowing the one true living God is much more effective…and it went on from there…

The good thing about spending so much time in the hospital are all the wonderful witnessing opportunities, so many people just. need. Jesus.
