Simple Question….s….

Filed under: Uncategorized — Debs @ 9:56 pm

If someone offers you a gift and you don’t accept it is it yours?

Can you say no to God, even tho He is drawing you to be His, and still be saved?

A New Year

Filed under: Uncategorized — Debs @ 5:21 pm

God is waiting for us, to share the blessings we have received, to take away the loneliness of the people along our path, and make His love known by touching the lives of others.

God is providing the time, to laugh and enjoy moments with friends and family, to watch His spectacular sunrises, and breathtaking sunsets, to just smile and see the reflection of that smile on the face of another.

God is giving us opportunities, to make concrete plans, and reach our goals.  He wants us to strive for our dreams until they come true, to make wise decisions and live a life full of His grace.

God is asking us to serve on His behalf.  Where we have reached in our personal journey towards Him, to love deeply, without reservation, acknowledging His presence and proclaiming His Word.

God is reminding us, that even when we are not aware of it, He can see and hear us.  We are His dearest children, and He loves us beyond what we can understand.  That at all times, we can begin again, because He is the One who gives us strength.

Phillipians 3:13-14 “13Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

Happiest of New Year’s to all of you. ¬†Love you!

Merry Christmas

Filed under: Uncategorized — Debs @ 7:53 am

I think this is one of the best Christmas messages I’ve read this season:

“The God of Abraham, which is also Jesus, is a God who draws me to him, who created me so that I would have a chance to know love and serve him, who sent his son to die for my sins so that I could be forgiven, but who also loves me enough to allow me to decide whether I will accept his gift.”

Sometimes we can get so wrapped up in the behind the scenes that God is doing before we say yes, that we forget it is indeed a necessary step for us to say yes… ūüôā ¬†There is nothing that glorifies God more, than our saying “Yes Lord”…in any circumstance.

Praying this is the season, that if you don’t know Him you will, and if you do know Him, your relationship with Him will be deeper than it ever has.

I never get tired of hearing or singing this song…. the words have very special meaning to me this year.

Have a very Merry Christmas!

It Doesn’t Have To Be Difficult

Filed under: Uncategorized — Debs @ 7:29 am

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

One step that needs to be taken in finding truth is to consider what is. ¬†It just doesn’t have to be difficult. ¬†“For God”….. there is a God. ¬†Most of the time we rush right by this fact, but, there is a God. ¬†The world began with God, it depends on God. ¬†He made me like Himself, and for Himself…. my life is about knowing, and showing God.

“….so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.”…… He has a son. ¬†In calling Him begotten, He is distinguished from sons who are made, or adopted. ¬†Angels are called “sons of God” Job 1:6, Christ followers are called “sons of God” Romans 8:14-16. ¬†But the “one and only begotten Son” is not by creation or adoption, but by begetting. ¬†I read from CS Lewis, who said: “Rabbits beget rabbits; and horses beget horses, God begets God, not humans or angels” ¬†God’s one and only begotten son, is God. ¬†As John 1:1 says, the Word, Jesus, is the only begotten Son, co-eternal with the Father.

There is God, and God has one, begotten  Son.

“For God so loved”……. ¬†God loves. ¬†He loves. Of all of the things you can say about God, He loves. ¬†1 John 4:8, He is love. ¬†Want to be Christlike? ¬†Giving what is good, and what serves the benefit of others is closer to the very essence of God, than getting and being served. ¬†God loves so much that He gave His only son for us. ¬†That whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. ¬† Believe in Him, believe Him. ¬†Regardless of the circumstance, regardless of the fact that there may be people who may try to bring you down by their words and actions, He is bigger. ¬†If you are looking for the heart of Christmas, you don’t have to go any further than your knees. ¬†He really did have you in mind when He sent and sacrificed His son. ¬†It just doesn’t have to be difficult. ¬†Merry Christmas! ūüôā

Then There’s Joseph…….

Filed under: Uncategorized — Debs @ 7:00 pm

Poor Jo seems to get left out of alot, in fact I don’t find much recorded in the way of words that he ever spoke. ¬†It seems he was probably born in Bethlehem, and his family moved to Nazareth sometime in his youth, where he met and became engaged to Mary.

One thing that is apparent, is that Joseph was willing to always do God’s bidding. ¬†Obedience was his response when the angel had explained to him how Mary had come to be pregnant. ¬†I’m sure he, like Mary, didn’t understand the how and why of the whole thing, but he still acted in simple faith on the word of God’s messenger. ¬†Reading this whole thing again, made me reflect on my own faith. ¬†A saving faith is only validated by obedience. ¬† It set me into a mind set that I need to do the will of God, and be determined in my carrying out His instruction to me.

Here is a little mind warping for you. ¬†Joseph taught Jesus to be a carpenter. ¬†The Creator of the Universe being taught to cut the boards that He Himself was holding together, otherwise the atoms would just fly apart. ¬†Joseph was working hard to be a father to the Son of God who planned Joseph’s existence in eternity past. ¬†Joseph taking Jesus to the Synagogue to learn the scriptures that Jesus had handed to Moses and others years before. ¬†Amazing to me.

Joseph to me is an unsung hero of Christmas. ¬†It just couldn’t have been easy. ¬†But in spite of his circumstances he was someone that could always be counted on to always do the right thing. ¬†God knew He could trust Joseph with this incredible mission, Joseph was always seeking to do the right thing in whatever situation he found himself in. ¬†It would be his job to raise Jesus as his son.

Again, ¬†this Christmas, it has me thinking on my own character. ¬†Can God really trust me to always do the right thing, even if it costs me? ¬†I can’t honestly answer yes. ¬†The Spirit of Christmas is the same whether it is December 25th or not, I think the light that shines so brightly in and through us this time of year needs to be year round.

The Woman I Want To Be

Filed under: Uncategorized — Debs @ 11:06 pm

Luke 1:38-39 “And Mary said, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto according to thy word. ¬†And the angel departed from her. ¬†Mary rose in those days and went to the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda”

Sheesh…. ¬†I seriously doubt she comprehended what was happening to her, yet she surrendered completely to the angel’s words. ¬†What a gal!

I don’t see anywhere that she moaned, became suicidal or depressed over her unusual circumstance, pregnant, not married.. she rejoices.

Luke 1:46-55 pretty much says it all.

46And Mary said:¬†“My soul glorifies the Lord
47and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49for the Mighty One has done great things for me‚ÄĒ¬†holy is his name.
50His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.
51He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.
53He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.
54He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful
55to Abraham and his descendants forever,¬†even as he said to our fathers.”

Not finding much negative in Mary, only joy. ¬†She was, I want to be, solid, faithful, loyal… dependable. Mary pondered, reflected instead of reacted. ¬†She thoughtfully, silently and thoroughly thought things through. ¬†She never flinched from her duty, not in her attitude. ¬†Once Jesus’ ministry began, she is only mentioned four times. ¬†The last time she is spoken of is in Acts…. she is mentioned in the Upper Room, along with those who would blaze a trail for him.

Acts 1:12-14: “12Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day‚Äôs journey away. 13And when they had entered, they went up to the upper room, where they were staying, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon¬†the Zealot and Judas the son of James. 14All these with one accord¬†were devoting themselves to prayer, together with¬†the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and¬†his brothers.”

I can’t imagine the pain of watching my son murdered, and then turning around, staying with His people, His followers, praying with them, maybe even consoling them. ¬†My tendency would be to mourn, be alone, to grieve. ¬†What an example she is for me. ¬†No wonder God’s Word says she is “blessed among women”.
